UniPath, PC, the region’s leading anatomic pathology practice, announced today that it has added four new pathologists, including Drs. Michael E. Hull, M.D., Qinghong Yang, M.D., Ph.D., David Kaneshiro, M.D., and Virginia D. Burdine, M.D, Ph.D.
Michael E. Hull, M.D.
Dr. Hull, who joined March 2011, focuses on surgical pathology and gynecologic pathology. He is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty board certification in Cytopathology. Dr. Hull received his M.D. degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana. He then completed a residency in General Surgery and a second residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Saint Louis, Missouri, where he also served as co-chief resident in Anatomic Pathology. Following his residencies, Dr. Hull completed a fellowship in Cytopathology and a second fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Prior to joining UniPath, Dr. Hull served as Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital.”
Qinghong Yang, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Yang, who joined July 2011, focuses on dermatopathology and hematopathology. She is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology with subspecialty boards in Hematology and Dermatopathology. Dr. Yang received her Ph.D. in genetics from SUNY at Stony Brook (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory). She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in human genetics at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. Dr. Yang received her M.D. degree from Duke University Medical School in Durham, North Carolina. She then completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology including a three-month soft tissue pathology fellowship, and subsequently a fellowship in Hematopathology at the Department of Pathology, Harvard Medical School / Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. She has also completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology at The Mayo Clinic. Dr. Yang also founded and was the Chief Technology Officer of FreshGene, Inc., Mountain View, California, which was a venture-backed molecular diagnostics company that was acquired by Panomics, Inc. in 2003 which eventually became part of Affymetryx, Inc.
David Kaneshiro, M.D.
Dr. Kaneshiro, who joined on July 2011, focuses on gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology. He is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and is a GI fellow, Dr. Kaneshiro received his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, and a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology at Caris Life Sciences, Dallas, Texas.
Virginia D. Burdine, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Burdine, who joined August 2011, focuses on hematopathology and renal pathology. She is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with a subspecialty board in Hematology. Dr. Burdine received a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology from the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She received her M.D. degree (with outstanding distinction) from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Burdine completed her residency in Pathology at Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and subsequently completed a fellowship in Hematopathology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics, Madison, Wisconsin. Prior to joining UniPath, Dr. Burdine has been member of the pathology staff at several hospitals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, including Saint Francis Hospital, Southwestern Regional Medical Center, and Saint Francis Heart Hospital. During her appointments at these hospitals, she served as Medical Director is several areas, including Transfusion Service, the Hematology and Coagulation Laboratories, the Hematopoetic Stem Cell Processing Laboratory, and the Clinical Laboratory.
